Johnnie Walker Introduces Johnnie Walker Platinum Label® To Its U.S. Portfolio Bringing a Tradition of Private Blends Stateside in August

image

NEW YORK, Aug. 20, 2013 /jm/ --Johnnie Walker announces its next step in the art of blending with the release of Johnnie Walker Platinum Label® blended Scotch whisky. Inspired by a Walker family custom to craft exclusive Scotch whisky blends for private gatherings that were never sold, Platinum Label is the most perfectly crafted 18-year-old blended Scotch whisky John Walker & Sons has ever made and will now be available in the United States this August.

Like the rare and precious metal for which it's named, Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is rich and refined – delivering the depth and complexity expected from a full flavored Johnnie Walker blend. Crafted from single malt and grain whiskies, each matured for a minimum of eighteen years, Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is a complex, delicate, smoky blend harboring deep layers of flavor that perfectly balance the diverse character of the distilleries from which it came and the wooden casks in which it has rested.

"Since the days of John Walker, private blends have played an important role in the House of Walker. It's the smaller, exclusive settings and experiences that often produce the best memories," said Master Blender Jim Beveridge. "We blended Johnnie Walker Platinum Label as a whisky to be enjoyed responsibly during those treasured moments."

Master Blender Jim Beveridge draws the whiskies in this blend from a limited number of casks, carefully selected from only twenty to twenty-five distilleries due to their exceptional character. Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is a skillful blend of style and substance artfully crafted by Beveridge.

The recommended serve for Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is neat or with a few drops of distilled water. The water unlocks the richness of the preciously crafted 18-year old whisky and releases a drange of aromas from tart tangerines to woody almonds and creates a deeply satisfying tangy and fruitful flavor profile

.

"Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is the brand's biggest product launch since the introduction of Blue Label," said Brian Radics, Director of Scotch Whisky, Diageo. "It has been received extremely well globally. The quality of the liquid and the flavor of the whisky will continue to bolster our position as the world's leading Scotch whisky brand."

Johnnie Walker Platinum Label will be available nationwide this August with a suggested retail price of $110. For more information, please visit http://www.johnniewalker.com/en-us/platinum/

Johnnie Walker reminds you to please drink responsibly.

Jim Beam® Honey On A Mission To Save Bees From A Serious Issue By "Suing" Bears

image

DEERFIELD, Ill., Aug. 19, 2013 /jm/ -- Jim Beam® Honey, a new Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey infused with realhoney and liqueur, is distressed by the current plight of the honey bees. A condition called Colony Collapse is causing honey bees to die at alarming rates. Fewer bees means less honey. Something needs to be done.

As passionate honey lovers and bee advocates, Jim Beam Honey has hired legendary "Seinfeld" attorney, Jackie Chiles, to "sue" honey's other biggest fan – the bears. That's right – it's time for bears to cease and desist from their rampant honey theft.

"Bears are egregious, devious, and just plain mischievous!" says Chiles, who has not represented a case since his "Seinfeld" days. "I'm here to go on the record – with Jim Beam Honey as my witness – to ensure that sweet, mouth-watering justice is served!"

This frivolous fight – a legal first – is something everyone can join. Fans 21 years and over can follow Jackie Chiles in his quest to sue the furry foes by using the #suethebears hashtag on Twitter. While Jackie fights the bears, Jim Beam Honey is focused on saving the bees. For every Tweet using the #suethebears hashtag on Twitter, Jim Beam Honey will donate $100 to the Pollinator Partnership (up to $25,000).

"We're excited to raise a glass of our new Jim Beam Honey and to raise awareness for the bees' plight," said Halley Kehoe, Senior Brand Manager, Jim Beam. "We know that bears love honey, and based on the excitement we've seen around our new product, it's clear that Jim Beam drinkers love it too."

Jim Beam Honey is also documenting every step and giving its fans the chance to follow along. Exclusive content will be released by Jim Beam Honey on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube along with a series of editorials on BuzzFeed.

Jim Beam Honey Donation to Help Save the Bees
While Chiles handles those troublesome bears, there's another very real, mysterious and serious issue plaguing honey bees called "Colony Collapse Disorder." This winter marked among the highest death rate of bees ever documented and without bees to propel the pollination process, U.S. agriculture may face some serious threats. In fact, about one third of bees in beehives across America were reported missing or dead over the 2012/2013 winter season, according to a recent survey of commercial beekeepers.1

To support honey bees, Jim Beam Honey is funding research toward Colony Collapse Disorder through a donation to thePollinator Partnership, the world's largest nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to the protection of pollinators.

Get Your Paws on Jim Beam Honey
"Lawsuit" and bears aside, Jim Beam Honey is a smooth whiskey experience that features the real flavor of golden honey. It's perfect for those who already enjoy whiskey or bourbon as well as those looking for a new flavor:

  • Jim Beam's inspired distillers infused our honey bourbon recipe with natural flavors that round out the edges, giving fans an incredibly smooth, 70-proof spirit with just the right amount of sweet honey flavor
  • The taste begins with complex notes of caramel, oak and vanilla and finishes with rich, sweet honey
  • It's delicious on its own, as a chilled shot, on the rocks or mixed

Jim Beam Honey is available nationwide and has a suggested retail price of $15.99 for 750mL. Prices vary by market and product size.

The Wild Tale Of The Whiskey That Wasn't Supposed To Be: Introducing Wild Turkey® Forgiven

image

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky., Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Not all mistakes are created equal – just ask the Wild Turkey® Bourbon Distillery crew who unwittingly mingled very rare, high-proof Rye with perfectly-aged Bourbon. The result is Wild Turkey Forgiven, the first nationally-available, 91-proof, small-batch Bourbon and Rye whiskey that will mesmerize those lucky enough to snag a bottle before limited quantities run dry. Enjoyed neat or on the rocks, this masterful spirit fortuitously found its way into the whiskey line-up of the famed Kentucky distillery, and the story of Forgiven was born.

Despite its accidental beginnings, Wild Turkey Associate Master Distiller Eddie Russell quickly realized that he had an exceptional whiskey more than worthy of bringing to market, hence the name "Forgiven." Made from 78 percent 6-year-old Bourbon and 22 percent 4-year-old Rye, the whiskey opens bold and finishes smooth, with tasting notes of creamy vanilla and oak, and a peppery, cinnamon finish.

"Wild Turkey is known for its uncompromised quality and taste in every Bourbon and Rye expression we make," said Eddie Russell. "Much to the distillery team's relief, Forgiven highlights the best of both worlds to create a one-of-a-kind taste that will appeal to both Bourbon and Rye aficionados. I was mad when I first discovered our crew's mistake, but once I tasted it, all was Forgiven."

Like all Wild Turkey Bourbons, Forgiven is born from a natural aging process using American oak barrels with the deepest number 4 or "alligator" char that is used to age every Wild Turkey Bourbon and Rye.  Forgiven joins a growing product line-up that features flagship Wild Turkey Bourbon 81 and 101, Wild Turkey Rye, Rare Breed®, Kentucky Spirit®, American Honey® and Russell's Reserve®.

"The Rye category is experiencing explosive growth right now, up 44 percent in the most recent Nielsen figures, with bartenders across the country populating their cocktail menus with this spicy spirit," said Andrew Floor, Group Brand Director, Wild Turkey.  "As both the Bourbon and Rye categories continue to witness broad expansion worldwide, Wild Turkey will maintain its commitment to creating high-quality products that have been the brand's signature for more than 100 years, while exploring new and interesting whiskies that appeal to bartenders and consumers alike."

Wild Turkey Forgiven will be available in limited quantities nationwide in late summer 2013 with a suggested retail price of$49.99.  For additional information, please visit us at WildTurkeyBourbon.com, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @WildTurkey.

Iowa Prairie Fire Cinnamon Flavored Whiskey - Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT…

imageThings have been hot, hot, hot in Pennsylvania this summer with weeks of 90 degree days and 80 degree nights, but the Justmalt household LOVES the heat and especially the hot and spicy things that it brings with it like: fresh jalapenos from the garden, just-harvested spicy Romanian Red garlic curing in the sun, hot garden salsa peppers picked green, and onions that will make your eyes water.

So when a tall, red bottle of Prairie Fire Cinnamon flavored whiskey from the Iowa Distilling Company arrived on our doorstep, we were very excited to give it a try.

Have you ever noticed how on a hot, humid day, even the slightest of breezes, can turn that thin layer of ever-present sweat clinging to your body feel like an arctic wind blasting you with sweet, cool relief? Well, we think that Prairie Fire has a similar effect.

The folks at Iowa Distilling say their customers enjoy and recommend it straight, and we couldn’t agree more.

We tried it straight up, no ice cubes (they are for sissies), and nothing else - we loved the sweet, cinnamon-y  heat of Prairie Fire that lingers pleasantly on your tongue for minutes afterward, and the cool after-effect it has on your mouth when you breathe in.

But you don’t need a hot day and a penchant for heat to enjoy this whiskey. Some ways we here at Justmalt plan to enjoy Prairie Fire in the future? In the cool, breezy evenings in the hot tub during our beach vacation; in the freezing Pennsylvania winters in front of a nice fire, and at any parties we plant to hold in the future.

Finally, we really like the packaging of this product - the sleek, tall bottle, flame-colored whiskey, and nicely designed label which compliments the color of the whiskey, create a striking package that is sure to capture positive attention.

So if you like your whiskey with some added flavor and you’re not afraid of a little spice, we have no doubt you will enjoy Prairie Fire, and at 35% ABV, go ahead and enjoy more than one (responsibly, of course).

Once again, thanks to the folks at Iowa Distilling for sharing their tasty and fun whiskey with us here at Justmalt.com. We look forward to seeing (and tasting) what the Iowa Distilling Company comes up with next.
